INDEPENDENT online: "West Africans detained last year were mostly Nigerians, some of whom had entered Malta illegally. They would often be living independently in Bugibba or Marsascala.
The largest number of drug traffickers last year came from the 12th district (which includes Bugibba), with 24 people being arrested, and 42 living in the same district were arrested for drug possession The highest number of people detained over drug possession – 62 – came from the Cottonera area (2nd district). Some 14 traffickers from the same district were also detained. A total of 67 people from the 4th district (Gudja, Ghaxaq, Marsa, Paola, Santa Lucija and Tarxien) – 12 traffickers and 55 users – were arrested."
