2 Border Patrol stops net more than 500 pounds of pot: "500 pounds of marijuana were seized and three men were arrested in two separate incidents involving the U.S. Border Patrol.
Border agents found 431 pounds of marijuana - with an estimated street value of more than $300,000 - stuffed between hay bales on a tractor-trailer in southern Arizona, said Shaun Kuzia, a public-affairs officer for Border Patrol.
The rig had been taken for secondary inspection Tuesday at a checkpoint on Interstate 8, he said. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drug smuggling.
In a separate incident Tuesday afternoon near Arizona's western border, about 144 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of more than $100,000 were found in a vehicle at a checkpoint south of Blythe, Calif., Kuzia said. Two men in the vehicle were arrested, also on suspicion of drug smuggling."
