Charlie Aguirre Jr. was arrested Thursday and charged with bringing contraband into the jail, conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and attempt to commit a felony. His bond was set at $11,000. The sheriff's office began investigating in early July after learning that an inmate was arranging for drugs to be smuggled in to the jail. Investigators intercepted several telephone calls between the inmate and a woman during which the inmate requested that she package and deliver marijuana, cocaine, tobacco and paraphernalia to the jail.
Authorities accused Aguirre of participating by getting the items to the inmate. Aguirre was placed on administrative leave after surveillance video captured him allegedly committing these crimes. He was later fired. The sheriff's office said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely
