2 Colombians convicted in cocaine smuggling plot: "Two alleged narcotics traffickers aligned with a right-wing paramilitary terrorist organization in Colombia have been convicted of conspiring to import multi-ton quantities of cocaine into the United States.
Christian Fernando Borda and Alvaro Alvaran-Velez were extradited from Colombia a year ago and were convicted by a federal jury Thursday.
The Justice Department said Borda led an organization that obtained cocaine from paramilitary groups and smuggled in more than 1,500 tons in drums of palm oil from Colombia in 2005, with additional shipments in 2005 and 2006. The department said Alvaran-Velez, an associate of Borda, facilitated cocaine shipments.
They were allied with Autodefenses Unidas de Colombia, an umbrella group for far-right paramilitary groups that has been designated by the State Department as a foreign terrorist organization."

Mother who harboured fugitive sentenced Stuff.co.nz: "People who harbour fugitives must know they will be dealt with severely if they are caught, Justice Graham Lang has told the High Court at Rotorua today.
He was sentencing Davinia Martha Duff, 33, a Murupara mother-of-three, on a charge of being an accessory after the fact of murder by helping her brother, Neville Duff, avoid arrest. She had earlier pleaded guilty.
Justice Lang sentenced her to seven months' home detention, saying that in doing so he took into account that she had not previously offended, had a newborn child, and was caring for her mother who had suffered a stroke.
He noted Duff's offending had its genesis on the streets of Murupara on October 3 last year when a 17 year old was beaten to death by a group of men in front of other people. Some bystanders had identified her brother as one of those allegedly responsible.
Although the others allegedly involved had been 'rounded up' within three days Duff had responded by fleeing to Auckland, assisted by his sister."

UPDATE: Wanted for grisly murder, fugitives may return to York - CBS 21 News - Breaking news, sports and weather for the Harrisburg Pennsylvania area: "Los Angeles police continue searching for a York couple accused of killing a man and cutting up his body.
A maid at an LA hotel found parts of a body cut into five pieces that were hidden in a backpack under a bed.
Police say the victim, Herbert DeMarco White, was a good samaritan who helped the Garcias. White was 49-years-old.
His family is asking for the publics help to catch the fugitive couple.
dward Garcia, Junior and his wife Melissa are facing homicide charges in the death of Herbert White."
